The Friends of the
Brunswick-Glynn County Library--an association of persons interested
in books, reading, and better public libraries whose principle
objectives and purposes are
--To increase community
awareness and use of the library.
--To encourage gifts
and endowments for the Brunswick-Glynn County Library and to provide
financial assistance for the purchase of needed
items that cannot be purchased from the library budget.
--To assist the
library's operation through our volunteer program.
--To sponsor programs
which add to the cultural life of the community.
The Friends meet
regularly, and all meetings are open to the public. The gatherings
provide opportunities for people to share ideas, learn, and enjoy
programs of literary, historical, visual and performing arts, and civic
interest.
What do Friends do?
--Operate
the Friends of the Library Bookstore--selling
"gently used" books, CDs, videos and DVDs
Hours: Tuesday,
Wednesday and Thursday, 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm
First and Third Saturday of the month, noon to 2:00 pm
--Host the annual Tables
of Content benefit dinner to raise funds for library books,
materials, and equipment.
--Organize Used Book
Fairs as a fundraiser for library needs.
--Underwrite summer
reading programs for children.
--Sponsor cultural and
book-related programs for adults.
--Circulate a newsletter
to members.
--Bring the national
Reading is Fundamental (R.I.F.) program to Glynn County public
school children.
--Subsidize the cost of
specialized Internet databases.
